Printed Textiles: Egyptian Culture (2017)

Printed textile project based around culture. I chose Egyptian culture to focus on, due to my interest in their religious practices, particularly the animal deities they worship. From initial drawings, I used Adobe Photoshop to create motifs and repeat prints suitable for screenprinting onto a range of cotton fabrics that fit my colour scheme.
"Egyptian Still Life" - Photograph taken by myself upon visiting the Egyptian display at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. I really love the clashing colours and the repetitive shapes.
"Sketchbook Study" - A page from my sketchbook analysing a still life composed from Egyptian inspired objects purchased from the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum gift shop.
"Pharaoh's Gold" - Fineliner, white pencil and collage on gold paper.
"Sketchbook Study 2" - Double pen study and smaller fineliner studies, analysing shape and repetitive pattern.
"Anubis of Gold" - Gold gel pen study.
"Myriad of Icons" - Collage on gold paper, with gold gel pen features. Looking at repetitive patterns and building up shape, form and colour combinations.
"Bastet on Blue" - Screenprint on blue cotton fabric.
"Scarab Repeat 1" - Screenprint on card.
"Bastet in Red" - Screenprint on cream cotton poplin fabric.
"Rubbing 1" - Screenprint on card. The design came from a textured rubbing I did of one of my earlier collages.
"Scarab Repeat 2" -  Screenprint on card.
"Bastet Contrast" - Screenprint on red cotton.
